Spontaneous San Diego

On Friday night we were hanging out in the backyard, Addison was happily swinging on her swing set and Karl came up with the bright idea to get out of town for the weekend. He'd been working a lot of hours lately and just wanted to get away.

We haven't been the most spontaneous people since becoming parents, so the thought was exciting and scary all at the same time! We quickly decided on San Diego. We got online and made hotel reservations and we were on the road within 2 hours. Luckily Karl works for a major hotel brand, so we are able to get deeply discounted hotel rooms. Gotta love that perk!

We headed over to Sea World on Saturday morning and spend most of the day there. Addison absolutely LOVED that place! She got to touch sting rays and starfish, see Shamu, Dolphins and so much more! We weren't sure how she'd react, but she was very into the whole thing! It was very exciting!

Addison decided to take a nap around 2:30, so we thought it would be a good time to head on out since we were meeting up with Karl's cousin Robin and her husband David, for dinner. We went over to Seaport Village to kill some time while she slept. Seaport Village isn't quite what I remember it being as a kid!

After Addison woke up, we decided that we should find a park to let her burn off some energy. We ended up at Old Trolley Barn Neighborhood Park. It was an awesome park with lots of grass and trees...and an awesome playground. Addison definitely enjoyed herself.

We had dinner at the Blind Lady Ale House. It was a nice laid back environment and we enjoyed some awesome pizza & conversation. Robin & David are awesome and we don't see them enough!

We had a great time and it was so nice to just get away! We plan on going back later this summer to hit up the San Diego Zoo and maybe Balboa Park.
