A few pics from the past few days....

Enjoy!

Smiley Girl

Can you believe that Addie is 6 weeks old today? I can't! It's all going by way too fast for my liking! It kills me when I realize that I go back to work in 6 weeks as well!

Anyway, our precious monkey (as we call her) is now the princess of smiles! This is what I'm greeted with several times every morning! I can't get enough of it!

2 weeks: 10lbs 10oz
5 weeks: 12lbs 13oz

Georgia on my mind...

We are crazy and decided to attend our good friend Chris' wedding in southeast Georgia last weekend. Addison was a perfect little traveler to our relief! She slept the entire time on the plane, and was the belle of the ball at the wedding.

Here's a few pics:

We've survived a month of parenthood! =o)

Sorry it's been so long since my last post, but life with a newborn is a busy one. Here are some pics of Addison on her 1 Month Birthday!

I'll post more pics from the past week or two soon!

Adventures in Parenthood

Well, we've managed to survive the first 10 days of parenthood! So far, so good! My wonderful Mom was kind enough to come and stay with us for the first week at home, and she was such a huge help! Thank you so much Grammie! We miss you lots!

Yesterday was my first day alone with Addison and we survived. It was a tad bit rough, but we got through it. Today is going much better to say the least. I think it's because the night before last we had our first rough night, so Addie and myself were a bit on edge due to lack of sleep!

Addison had her first pediatrician appointment on Tuesday, and our not-so-little girl weighed in at 10lbs flat! That's only a 6oz weight gain since birth, but geeze! We have a milk monster on our hands! The Dr said she's perfect...and we'd have to agree!

Everything is falling into place and we're loving being parents. I never thought in a million years it'd come as easy as it does. We can't imagine what life was like without our little dictator...it's funny!

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone out there in blogland know that we are doing well while I had the chance to update.

Until next time!

Hospital Pictures

So we pretty much have the cutest baby ever, if I do say so myself.

Here are the hospital photos of Addison. We just love her little personality!

Baby, you're a Star!

As most of you know, my Dad is a musician. So we are tickled pink that he decided to write and record Addison her very own lullaby. My Dad told me that the lyrics/idea came to him the moment I called (at 2am) to tell them that I was in labor.

It's very sweet and we hope you love it too!

And so we wait...

I went to the Dr this morning for my 40 week appointment and every thing is looking fantastic. My preeclampsia is pretty much non-existant now. My blood pressure is normal, my uric acid level is normal and my swelling is much improved. She even gave the a-ok for me to start going for walks!

It looks as though we are going to sail right past my due date tomorrow, but I guess that is to be expected with a first pregnancy. There is no reason at this point to re-attempt an induction, so I was relieved to hear that!

I have an appointment next Tuesday, and I'm hoping we'll have to cancel! =o)

Anyway, we'll let everyone know if anything happens! We're just as anxious as you all are, but probably even more so!

Love,
K&K

I Love my Dr.!

I went to see my Dr yesterday to follow up from this weekend and since my preeclampsia has mellowed out, we're going to ride it out right now since my EDD is on Wednesday. She stripped my membranes (OUCH) and we'll see what that brings us. She gave me the option on trying an induction again on Saturday, but no way! I hated every minute of being in that hospital, and I'd rather not try again right now.

As of yesterday, I'm 75% effaced and 2cm dialated. I'm stuck on bed rest which blows, but I'm learning to like it because I know once Addie gets here it's going to be a thing of the past!

It's amazing how resistant the human body can be to drugs! My Dr was shocked to hear that I was on the Pitocin for 9 hours and didn't dialate any! My body is holding on to this munchkin for whatever reason. I was so scared because I thought we were going to be told it's going to have to come to a c-section, but she said there was no reason. What a relief!

So, I'm praying my body gets it's act together soon and we dialate some more and can have a successful induction if I don't go on my own. If nothings happened by Tuesday, she's going to induce since she's on call.

We almost had a baby...almost!

Last Thursday while at work I noticed my feet and calves swelling more than normal, and then I started to see spots. When I got home it got much worse. I called the Dr's office and was told to report to L&D for monitoring.

We got there and I was monitored for 2.5 hours and was sent home because I had an appointment with my Dr at 8:30am on Friday. He said I was definitely borderline Preeclampsia, but since I was feeling okay, and my BP and bloodwork looked fantastic he was fine with sending me home.

I went to see my Dr the following day and she agreed that I was headed in the direction of Preeclampsia and we needed to induce. She called the birth center and I was on the list for induction on Friday night. I was to call at 5pm to see when to come in.

I called at 5, they told me to call back at 8. I called back at 8 and they said they were full and to call back at 10am on Saturday morning. I called on Saturday and they told be to be there at 12 noon.

We went in and they started me on Cervadil for 12 hours. After 12 hours, I was only 1 cm and 50% effaced. So, they put me on another 12 hour dose of Cervadil. (Cervadil is used to ripen the cervix)

At noon yesterday the Dr came to check me and my only progress was that I was now 60% effaced, but still 1 cm dialated. They decided that they would attempt to break my water. That didn't go quite so well and was unsuccessful. The Dr decided to start me on Pitocin and see where that took us. (Pitocin is a synthetic form of Oxytocin which creates contractions).

Well, I was contracting every 2 minutes for about 45 seconds each for a good 2 hours. Then as they kept upping my dosage my contractions stopped. At midnight I was re-checked and 0 progress had been made. The Dr said that if I hadn't made any progress after being on it for 9 hours like I had, then I wasn't going to make any! It was midnight at this point and she decided to take me off all monitors, give me some sleeping pills and let me rest.

That brings us to Monday morning. I was discharged from the hospital at 10am. I saw the Dr on-call and he told me that my body is fighting everything and the only way to get around it right now would be to do a c-section and that he wasn't comfortable with that because I was fine, so was the baby and my Preeclampsia symptoms were stable. He put me on bed rest and scheduled me to see my Dr on Thursday morning!

It's a bit disheartening, but I'm glad to be out of the hospital! It was a fun test run, and the next time I'm there we're definitely not leaving without a baby!

It feels amazing to be home, sleep in my own bed and take a nice relaxing bath. It's also hard to be here at the same time though because we left here on Saturday afternoon with the mindset that we were coming home with a baby. It's been pretty hard on me emotionally, but I known in due time she'll be gracing us with her presence one way or another!

It's done! The "Pink Palace" is finally ready for Addison's arrival! She'll be here soon enough!

After 11 loads of laundry, all of her stuff is ready to rock! I can't believe such a little person has so much!
