After a bit of a break...we're back! :)

{meet mermaid}

This is what happens when you let an almost-two-year-old name a kitten...you end up with a name like Mermaid.

I discovered "Mermaid" last night as I was taking out some trash. She was meowing very loudly, I called for her once and she came running. My intention was to just feed her some food, like I often do for the stray neighborhood kittens that wind up in our yard and call it good. That is, until a little person & her Daddy saw it. It was all over after that! Before I knew it she was inside being bathed, fed and loved on.

"Mermaid" appears to be an Orange Tabby that's probably about 3-4 months old. She has an appointment to see the vet tomorrow and see if she's healthy enough to keep.

Kasper, our 11 year old spaz white cat, couldn't be bothered with her. She hasn't acknowledged her in the least...so I guess that's okay!?

Last night we attended Addie's Preschool Carnival. She had a good time playing with her classmates, getting her face painted and playing games. I was a total slacker and didn't take very many pictures, but here are a few:

It's been hot and humid out here for the past week. We needed a break from staying indoors and a trip to the zoo was just the ticket!

We woke up early and headed up to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo for some family fun! Wow! is all we can say about it! It's such a nice zoo! It's just the perfect fit for us. Bigger than the Santa Barbara Zoo, but smaller than the LA Zoo....and as a bonus we didn't have to travel over the Grapevine! We've been trying to avoid that at all costs lately due to the havoc it wreaks on Addison's ears.

Enjoyed all the beautiful birds

Fed Baba the Giraffe without hesitation

Got to see Baba the Giraffe's new baby boy born not even 24 hours ago!

Went wild over the Zebras

Act goofy by the elephant statue

Marvel at the elephants in person and watch one cool off (she really like the elephants)

And talk Mommy & Daddy into buying her into this ridiculous Giraffe toy! LOL

{4th of july recap}

Hope every one out there had a safe & Happy 4th of July! We did!

We loaded up bright and early on Sunday morning and headed to Ventura so that Addison could participate in the annual Push-em Pull-em Parade with her cousins. She had a great time throwing out candy and people watching.

We then headed over to my sister-in-law's house for tons of water play, food and fireworks...except that she was pooped out by the time it got dark and slept inside on Mommy while the boys pretended they were pyros.
