Georgia on my mind...

We are crazy and decided to attend our good friend Chris' wedding in southeast Georgia last weekend. Addison was a perfect little traveler to our relief! She slept the entire time on the plane, and was the belle of the ball at the wedding.

Here's a few pics:

We've survived a month of parenthood! =o)

Sorry it's been so long since my last post, but life with a newborn is a busy one. Here are some pics of Addison on her 1 Month Birthday!

I'll post more pics from the past week or two soon!

Adventures in Parenthood

Well, we've managed to survive the first 10 days of parenthood! So far, so good! My wonderful Mom was kind enough to come and stay with us for the first week at home, and she was such a huge help! Thank you so much Grammie! We miss you lots!

Yesterday was my first day alone with Addison and we survived. It was a tad bit rough, but we got through it. Today is going much better to say the least. I think it's because the night before last we had our first rough night, so Addie and myself were a bit on edge due to lack of sleep!

Addison had her first pediatrician appointment on Tuesday, and our not-so-little girl weighed in at 10lbs flat! That's only a 6oz weight gain since birth, but geeze! We have a milk monster on our hands! The Dr said she's perfect...and we'd have to agree!

Everything is falling into place and we're loving being parents. I never thought in a million years it'd come as easy as it does. We can't imagine what life was like without our little dictator...it's funny!

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone out there in blogland know that we are doing well while I had the chance to update.

Until next time!

Hospital Pictures

So we pretty much have the cutest baby ever, if I do say so myself.

Here are the hospital photos of Addison. We just love her little personality!

Baby, you're a Star!

As most of you know, my Dad is a musician. So we are tickled pink that he decided to write and record Addison her very own lullaby. My Dad told me that the lyrics/idea came to him the moment I called (at 2am) to tell them that I was in labor.

It's very sweet and we hope you love it too!

She has arrived!

After a nice 22 hours of labor (ha ha ha) Addison Kimberly Whitnall made her debut into this world on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 6:25pm; Weighing in at 9lbs, 10oz., 21 3/4" long! I was released from the hospital this afternoon.

More pics to come, but hopefully this will tide every one over for now!

And so we wait...

I went to the Dr this morning for my 40 week appointment and every thing is looking fantastic. My preeclampsia is pretty much non-existant now. My blood pressure is normal, my uric acid level is normal and my swelling is much improved. She even gave the a-ok for me to start going for walks!

It looks as though we are going to sail right past my due date tomorrow, but I guess that is to be expected with a first pregnancy. There is no reason at this point to re-attempt an induction, so I was relieved to hear that!

I have an appointment next Tuesday, and I'm hoping we'll have to cancel! =o)

Anyway, we'll let everyone know if anything happens! We're just as anxious as you all are, but probably even more so!

Love,
K&K

39 weeks, 3 days...

I Love my Dr.!

I went to see my Dr yesterday to follow up from this weekend and since my preeclampsia has mellowed out, we're going to ride it out right now since my EDD is on Wednesday. She stripped my membranes (OUCH) and we'll see what that brings us. She gave me the option on trying an induction again on Saturday, but no way! I hated every minute of being in that hospital, and I'd rather not try again right now.

As of yesterday, I'm 75% effaced and 2cm dialated. I'm stuck on bed rest which blows, but I'm learning to like it because I know once Addie gets here it's going to be a thing of the past!

It's amazing how resistant the human body can be to drugs! My Dr was shocked to hear that I was on the Pitocin for 9 hours and didn't dialate any! My body is holding on to this munchkin for whatever reason. I was so scared because I thought we were going to be told it's going to have to come to a c-section, but she said there was no reason. What a relief!

So, I'm praying my body gets it's act together soon and we dialate some more and can have a successful induction if I don't go on my own. If nothings happened by Tuesday, she's going to induce since she's on call.

We almost had a baby...almost!

Last Thursday while at work I noticed my feet and calves swelling more than normal, and then I started to see spots. When I got home it got much worse. I called the Dr's office and was told to report to L&D for monitoring.

We got there and I was monitored for 2.5 hours and was sent home because I had an appointment with my Dr at 8:30am on Friday. He said I was definitely borderline Preeclampsia, but since I was feeling okay, and my BP and bloodwork looked fantastic he was fine with sending me home.

I went to see my Dr the following day and she agreed that I was headed in the direction of Preeclampsia and we needed to induce. She called the birth center and I was on the list for induction on Friday night. I was to call at 5pm to see when to come in.

I called at 5, they told me to call back at 8. I called back at 8 and they said they were full and to call back at 10am on Saturday morning. I called on Saturday and they told be to be there at 12 noon.

We went in and they started me on Cervadil for 12 hours. After 12 hours, I was only 1 cm and 50% effaced. So, they put me on another 12 hour dose of Cervadil. (Cervadil is used to ripen the cervix)

At noon yesterday the Dr came to check me and my only progress was that I was now 60% effaced, but still 1 cm dialated. They decided that they would attempt to break my water. That didn't go quite so well and was unsuccessful. The Dr decided to start me on Pitocin and see where that took us. (Pitocin is a synthetic form of Oxytocin which creates contractions).

Well, I was contracting every 2 minutes for about 45 seconds each for a good 2 hours. Then as they kept upping my dosage my contractions stopped. At midnight I was re-checked and 0 progress had been made. The Dr said that if I hadn't made any progress after being on it for 9 hours like I had, then I wasn't going to make any! It was midnight at this point and she decided to take me off all monitors, give me some sleeping pills and let me rest.

That brings us to Monday morning. I was discharged from the hospital at 10am. I saw the Dr on-call and he told me that my body is fighting everything and the only way to get around it right now would be to do a c-section and that he wasn't comfortable with that because I was fine, so was the baby and my Preeclampsia symptoms were stable. He put me on bed rest and scheduled me to see my Dr on Thursday morning!

It's a bit disheartening, but I'm glad to be out of the hospital! It was a fun test run, and the next time I'm there we're definitely not leaving without a baby!

It feels amazing to be home, sleep in my own bed and take a nice relaxing bath. It's also hard to be here at the same time though because we left here on Saturday afternoon with the mindset that we were coming home with a baby. It's been pretty hard on me emotionally, but I known in due time she'll be gracing us with her presence one way or another!

Nursery Progress

It's done! The "Pink Palace" is finally ready for Addison's arrival! She'll be here soon enough!

After 11 loads of laundry, all of her stuff is ready to rock! I can't believe such a little person has so much!

Exciting News!

I went to the Dr. today and we've determined a new due date! Addison is estimated to arrive on March 12, 2008! There has been a great mix up of my medical records and after a bunch of back and forth with my old Dr's office this date seems to be the most accurate one!

I had an ultrasound last Monday and Addison was measuring 3 weeks ahead. So, we were kind of expecting this change, but wanted to hear a solid date before we announced it. If she has yet to make her appearance by the 22nd, I will be induced. Good thing is though, she is head down and has started to drop. Let's hope for some more progress!

Love,
K&K

Look at all that stuff!

Lately I've been working hard on getting the nursery ready to go. I think I managed to do about 8 loads of laundry on Satruday...just for the baby alone! I was exhausted from folding and organizing stuff to say the least.

Here's a few picutres of her room as of right now. We still have a bit more to do, but it's getting there! I'm currently on the look out for a bookshelf of some sort to go where the swing currently is.

Crib & our amazing Glider!

Her closet...this kid seriously DOES NOT need anything!

31 Weeks

Can I seriously get any bigger?! At least I'm carrying it all out front! =o)

Oh the joys!

So, go figure that I end up with a gnarly cold at 7 months pregnant! Of course I cannot take anything to help, so I am utterly miserable. It's 4:5o am on our 4th Wedding Anniversary and I cannot sleep because I am so congested. This is not fun at all!

Yesterday was an exciting day for us, minus my cold. We finally signed our refinance loan documents, so that is finally coming to an end! And, our glider has arrived! It's perfect and super-comfy. I'll take pics soon, I promise! I'm just not feeling up to it right now for obvious reasons.

Next weekend is my Baby Shower and I am looking forward to seeing all of my friends and family! I cannot believe it's already time for that! That means that we'll be meeting our little girl before we know it! =o) It's going to be a fun & exciting day, and I'm sure I'll need a nap afterwards.

Today is our 4th Wedding Anniversary. I cannot believe it's been 4 years! Sometimes it feels like we've been married forever, and at times it feels like we're still newlyweds! I could not imagine my life without Karl. He is my rock. Tonight I think the plan is to go out to dinner, but I'm going to play it by ear depending on how I feel by the end of the day!

I apologize if this entry doesn't make much sense, but I'm running on like 3 hours of sleep!

Until next time,

10 weeks to go!

Last night Karl & I started our Childbirth Education classes at the hospital. It's a 5-week course and appears like it's going to be very informative. In the 2 hours that we were there for last night I learned quite a few things that I was unaware of, so I'm looking to absorb as much info as I can. It's quite a fascinating thing! I'm so thankful that it's not a "Lamaze" class. That was my biggest fear going into this thing. I'm not a "natural birth" kind of girl, and I was fearing that the instructor was going to cram that down our throats. Bring on the epidurals! =o)

This month is going to be a busy one! Our Monday nights are booked up until the beginning of February, we'll be celebrating our 4th Wedding Anniversary on the 17th, Karl's Dad's retirement party is towards the end of the month, as is my Baby Shower! Lots of big things going on means this month is going to fly by...or at least I hope it does!

The nursery is just about finished. We're still waiting on our glider to come in, but we were given a time frame of 8-10 weeks, and it's only been a month as of today.

I had my first appointment last Friday with my new Dr. and she is awesome! Much more attentive than my prior one. I feel much more comfortable with her and look forward to ending my pregnancy in her care.

Anyway, that's about all that is going on in our crazy world. I'll try to get a new belly picture up sometime soon! I've been extremely lazy lately!

Have a good one!

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas! We sure did!

This year was an amazing year for us, and we're so anxious to see what 2008 has in store!

Karl & I had the opportunity to reflect on all of our blessings this year on our way home on Christmas evening, and I thought I'd take a moment to share a few of those with you all:

  • Karl's Mom, Lyn, came through her brain & back surgeries with flying colors
  • We found out we were expecting after 2 years of trying in July
  • We finally got to take a much needed vacation in September
  • My Grandmother had her 3rd Cornea transplant, and this one looks like it is going to take
  • My Grandfather survived a serious heart-attack
  • My Mom is quitting smoking
  • I started an excellent job
  • Karl's still going strong in his journey in the Hospitality Industry
  • We were fortunate to be able to buy a new car this past April

Over all, life is good....and it looks like it's going to get that much better! 82 days and counting....parenthood is on the horizon.

May you all be safe, and have a prosperous 2008!

K&K

3 Days 'til Christmas!

I had my 27 week prenatal check-up yesterday, and my weight gain has caught up with me! I'm a little depressed about it, but I understand that I am growing a human and that these things do happen. It was a bit of a shock though to step on the scale and see that big number staring back at me!

We've been making some great progress on Addison's Nursery. We're just waiting on the glider to show up and it's pretty much a done deal minus some more decor items.

Introducing Addison Kimberly Whitnall

So, we had our 3d Ultrasound this afternoon, and our Little Miss kept on insisting that she keep her hands in front of her face. We enjoyed seeing her again, and cannot wait to meet her! Here are some pics from today:

100 days to Go!

Wow how this month is flying by! I cannot believe that it's almost Christmas! Karl & will be spending the Holiday with our families out in Ventura. We're the only ones who live out of town, so it makes more sense for us just to make the 2 hour drive.

We've scheduled our 3d/4d ultrasound for Monday (12/17) afternoon. We're very excited to see our little one again, but this time in a real life image...versus the lovely black & white grainy ultrasounds. We're also anxious to make sure that she is really a "she," because if it turns out to be a "he"....he'd better like pink! =o) We're 99% confident that it's a Girl, but stranger things have happened!

I have another pre-natal appointment on the 20th. This will be my last appointment with my current OB/GYN. I'm kind of nervous to be switching providers during the last trimester of my pregnancy, but my new employer offers much better benefits than our current provider...and it's cheaper to boot! The new practice that I will be going to comes with high recommendation, so I hope all works out! My first appointment with them is on the 4th of January.

Our dresser for the baby's room has finally arrived! The first one came in about a week after we ordered it, but one of the ends was totally smashed up...so we had to reject it. I just got a call today that the new one is in and is in perfect condition. I'm hoping we can pick that up tonight since the place is right down the street from the house.

Last weekend I spent a good amount of time re-organizing the baby's closet. It was kind of a mess, and I needed to sort her clothes by size. It's all done now. Karl also found the time to install 2 more hanging rods, so the little diva definitely has room for lots more!

We also have settled on a new glider for the baby's room. We were fortunate enough to re-sell the one that we had previously purchased off of CraigsList.org for the same price we purchased it for. My Grandparents (Eittreim) have graciously offered to buy it for us, so we found one and ordered it this weekend. The baby boutique that we ordered it from (JM's) said that it should be here right around Christmas! I'm very excited to get it! Karl fits comfortably into this one...which is the problem that we were having with the one that we had previously purchased.

That's about all of the updating I have for now. I will definitely be posting on Monday...I should have several pictures of Baby A to share!

Until then,
K&K

25 weeks

Okay, so I finally figured out that our camera has a 10 second timer! So, no more mirror pictures for me!

Here's the latest:
