Movies in the Park

Last Saturday night we went to the first Movies in the Park of the season. We weren't sure what to expect since we've never been to one before, but now we know what we need to bring in the future.

The night's feature was Wall-E. Such a cute movie! There are several more planned from now through the beginning of fall! You can find the schedule here for those who are interested! It's a great free family event! We'll definitely be going to quite a few more.

We met up with our friends, The Neills, but Addison wasn't too interested in playing with William.

Skype-in' it up!

My good friend, Shannon, moved across the country with her little family back in October. She emailed me about using Skype a while back. I was a tad uneasy about it, but after some coaxing I went out and purchased a webcam on Tuesday afternoon during my lunch break.

We had our first Skype converstation later that night! It was so fun to be able to see & talk to our friends! Addison loved it too, but she was more into trying to grab the webcam of of my laptop. I'm amazed at how technology is blooming. I know I'm way behind on the whole webcam deal, but now I'm hooked!

The best thing about this Skype business is that it's FREE, and also very easy to use! So, if you have a webcam and want to talk to the crazies that reside at our house...let us know! =o)

A Big THANK YOU!

I wanted to take a moment and thank every one that donated to my walk in the March for Babies! I raised $325! That's $125 over my goal of $200!

We had a great time at the event this past Saturday and Addison was a complete angel on our 5 mile walk. We had a great group of ladies that made up our team, The Haute Mamas. Thanks to Candice & William, Tracey & Audrey and Laura & Tanis for walking with Addison & I! You guys are the best!

It turned out to be a Whitnall Family event, too! Karl's company was involved as well, so he was at the event working in his company sponsored pit stop on the route. It was nice to see him out there handing out healthy snacks, goodie bags and nice cold waters...and cheering us on!

I can't wait to do it again next year!

Chatty Cathy

As of late, Addison has really taken a strong interest in phones. She will put anything that she can up to her ear and pretend. TV Remotes, Shoes (Get Smart), Paper, etc....it's all fair game. It's quite comical. It's also so neat to see her starting to mimic things we do (time to stop goofing off because we're getting into dangerous territory).

I'm a big hand talker, and I never realized how much I did that until lately. Addison has now started using her hands when she talks (or rambles...oh if I could only understand what dopabealerhaschuifhk meant!). It's the cutest thing ever to watch, and I'm working on getting back to taking videos & pictures. I've really been slacking and for that I do sincerely apologize.

The other day she snatched my iPhone and started chatting away. Notice the body language and "hand talking." I think we are headed for a world full of trouble....

PS - Please don't think this child is deprived of phones...she has PLENTY! She has my old iPhone, an old Razr that Grandpa gave her, a toy flip phone, and Elmo Phone and the new school/old school Fisher-Price phone. We don't need any more! LOL

It's been a while..

Sorry I've fallen off of the face of the earth with my blogging. I've been pretty busy as of late and have tons of pictures to offload from my camera, so I promise there will be lots of new stuff soon!

March for Babies

On April 7th, 2009 the "Mama Blogging World" was hit with a tragedy. Sweet little 17-month old Madeline Alice Spohr was taken from this world unexpectedly.

I had already signed on to participate in the March for Babies long before this occurred, but now this event has much more meaning. I'm now marching in honor of Madeline. She was born 11 weeks premature and battled the respiratory complications that often go hand-in-hand with her situation. To find out more about Madeline, go to Remember Maddie.

We had Addison's Birthday Party at my Mom's house on Sunday. It went pretty well considering that it was insanely windy and we packed 25+ people into my Mom's house. Addison wasn't feeling 100% due to the fact that she got a 30 minute nap and was/is teething, but started to warm up towards the end. She got lots of neat presents & didn't want to eat her cake...go figure!

On the night of Addison's actual birthday, we did a small little celebration and cupcakes. She loved her pink princess cupcake! We had a sugared up little one who ran in circles until 9:30pm!

The Park with Dallas

We are having an early Spring here in Bakersfield...it was 81* today! We decided to hit up another park and we took Dallas (our Lab) along with us! Addison is definitely an outdoorsy girl! She loves being outside, picking up sticks & leaves and swinging on the swings!
